Here's something different. I'm kinda diggin' this!
Fresh News
My big sis, Mina sent the video below to me. It is so inspiring. You see, in the past year, I became so frustrated that I almost quit. You should never let anyone or anything make you ever give up. If something isn't working, then try it another way. You might discover something else you want to do even more than what you originally intended! Now that's a discovery!
I've sacrificed a lot in my career, but I've also wasted a lot of time on unnecessary things and unnecessary people. I could have been smarter with my time and utilized it a lot better. I probably could have accomplished so much more while spending more quality time with my loved ones. I probably would have had a man who built me a kitchen with his bare hands like the Old Spice guy! But...you can't live with regrets. What are you going to do about it NOW is the question.
If President Obama can find time to run this country, take meetings, problem solve, play golf, do interviews, play with his children and romance Michelle, then why can't I balance my time! Of course, he has people around him helping out but they all take his time. The theme is that time is important. You're never given back even one second of it. NEVER. It is GONE. Poof! Forever!
Some people are just not healthy for you. Some things are not either, such as, endlessly and aimlessly browsing the internet is absolutely useless. What's the point? I'm the one to give advice on time management because I am the absolute worst at it. YET, I am getting better. I realize that the people who care about me need as much time or more as the goals I have in life.
Sometimes, you bark up the wrong tree and you realize it the hard way. Sometimes, you knock on a door, ring the doorbell for days and nobody's home. Sometimes, you just don't have a great season or two or three or more, but you keep going. My point is to not let the things in life bring you down. LIFE is beautiful. TIME is precious. Nothing is forever. You must cherish every minute and every moment you've been granted.
We can get so frustrated that we lose track of time and sulk into an ocean of discouragement. What about the people around you? Did you think of them? Don't you care about them? What about your dreams and aspirations? Don't they mean anything anymore? It's not what you do, it's how you do it. It's not what you want, it's how you want it. What are your intentions? What is your purpose?
Do you have a foundation? What is it based on? Many things are temporary and it takes focus, strength, and love to build anything that can withstand the blows of life. So, I say to you: Be GOOD to yourself and you'll be good to others. Forgive and you forgive yourself. Let go and you'll be unchained. It's natural to be afraid but do what's right anyway! Think less of what you fear and more of what you LOVE. Do to others as you want them to do unto you. Every little bit counts. Don't think for one second that it doesn't because yes it does.
My birthday just passed and I did nothing. I fell asleep with a migraine. Why? Because I was so frustrated-feeling sorry for myself; not realizing the people who love me dearly were sad because of their deep want for me to be happy. You see, when you're not happy, you're focused on what you lack and it makes the ones who care about you unhappy, too. They want the best for you. When you're in attitude of gratitude, you're more powerful and loving.
I realized how ungrateful and selfish I've been. I can't say that I won't be sad here and there but I won't leave myself there. My time is more important. Life is the greatest gift. My God is most important and He didn't say it would be easy but He did say He'd be with me. That's why God gave me family and friends and smiles to soak in daily. I have talks with strangers yet we're not really strangers because we are all on this earth; my neighbors.
People won't remember me as a great host or dj, they'll remember me as a crazy little girl who wished she was at 5'7 and loved people and showed them all the time. That's what I want to pass on. My love.
So I made a promise on my birthday that IF I ever were to tap out, I would try my ULTIMATE best. I would try so hard that if nothing resulted, I would be satisfied that I did MY best! But I'm not tappin' out! ;)
Whatever you do, never give up on yourself. Do YOUR best. Don't cheat yourself or others. Be brave! That's all! ;)
I love you. God bless you all.

Salut everyone!!! I would really love for you to join me in celebrating my birthday at Villa.
It's FREE!!! NO COVER. Dress to impress! Everything else is cool! That means NO baseball hats or white tee's.

Do you like DJs? Then you gotta chill with us on DJ Buddy TV. I'll be spinnin' with my boys on August 25th live. We're gonna be CLOWNIN' and enjoying good company and music. I think that I'm going to go ahead and just stick with vinyl.
Serato is cool and convenient, but I rocked vinyl for 10 years. After using my computer for most gigs, it's always special when you rock pure vinyl. It'll be fun. Join us!
I'm really honored to spin on Buddy TV because all the guys are major heads and DJs. Thanks!!! Love love to my people: DJ Buddy, Ab Loon, JBroSki, Traumatix, Data One, and Bbui! Hope I didn't leave anyone out or else, I will be called out for it. Doh!

How are you everybody? It's been a little while since I last posted but I'm always on twitter! Make sure if you are too, hit me up! So, I ran across this video/freestyle and was feeling what the Illz was sayin'. I'm no rapper but sometimes I too "disconnect when I'm busy." I know that it's not right. There's no excuse. In my case, I'm not usually stringing somebody along. Games are for losers.
If you care about someone, you find a way out of no way. You're always better off taking your time with someone who mutually desires the good life in love, not a sometimer/part-timer. Sounds tricky, huh? You better know what you want before anything though.
Dude took the words out of my mind and explained how I've felt many times on certain situations. I guess that's why I'm still single. Whoever I'm with will be as special to me as I am to him. That makes anything worth it. If something isn't worth it, why bother? What are we living for? Now that takes a lifetime to figure out or does it? Marinate on that.
Aaah...just have a nice day! :) God bless ya'll!
I would love for you to join me tonight! It's FREE. You usually hear me playing familiar songs and I get to go abstract here and there. Tonight, I'm going all the way. Only disco, soul, funk, and old school. :) :) Fun!
When I say that I listen to a lot of music, I mean ...almost too much. I'm not an A&R or consultant; just a DJ. So, it's not my job to listen to EVERY single song sent to me. There are people who get paid to do that and market it. They're called "consultants." Not trying to sound condescending at all, it's just not my job. I know that some information is not common sense. You gotta look for it. If you're trying to be in this business, YOU MUST RESEARCH. ASK questions. Don't feel silly. ASK. READ. WATCH. LEARN. It's all available today.
If you want people's ears to notice you, then you have to put your foot on the pedal and drop it all the way to the ground. No one owes you anything. You owe yourself. But don't burn yourself out like I, along with countless others have done in this business. You can work your arse off and realize that your whole life zoomed by; not even one break of sanity.
This special commentary was triggered by some of the new talent in Los Angeles whom I've been hearing this past year. I keep my ears out for who's really working hard and has a gift. You see, LA's hip hop scene is very complex. For example, Hollywood's interpretation of hip hop is a very different scene compared to our underground or eclectic scene. We actually have a very stable and exciting creative scene. The flipside, of course, is our trendy scene. But what do you expect. Yet, there's no real balance or connection between the two. YET, it is possible to work hand in hand. It has been done before.
If you're a music entertainer, and have performed in LA, you know that it's not the easiest crowd. They may be feeling you but don't "give it up" like other crowds. By give it up, I mean LET LOOSE. Give the performer props with enthusiasm, instead of "I'm too cool for school" attitude. On the other hand, there are special LA natives who are the life of the parties...who don't ever hold back, always uber amped and just have their hands in the air throughout the show. (Run-on sentence, I know. It's ok. This isn't Rolling Stone or Urb.) But everyone who I talk to agree that LA is probably the toughest crowd to get a full reaction from. They will eventually give it to you, but you better WORK. (*Rupaul voice)
You see, the reason in which many Cali hip hop talents, especially Los Angeles, never come out is due to the lack of support. Instead of looking at the BIGGER picture, they'd rather look at the quick, SHORT TERM, right now small video. You know, the kind you see on MTV or BET, then don't ever see again.
Another reason talent rarely comes out of LA is EXTORTION. What do you mean? I'll explain. As you may have noticed, NO ONE ever comes to Los Angeles to shoot music videos anymore. Have you ever thought about why? Because you have some wish-they-could-bes or some people who think that they are Mayor Villagairosa and TAX people. HUH? Yeah, I said TAX people in the streets, not LEGALLY of course.
Now... NO ONE even wastes their time coming here. What does that mean for YOU & I? Well, just a few years ago, the city made money from entertainers shooting videos here. We may not have DIRECTLY got paid but we indirectly got paid because the city had more income which meant a bigger budget... which meant more money toward bettering the city, and so on. Right now, the lack of outside sources means LESS MONEY for ALL OF LOS ANGELES. We used to make a big chunk of money when it came to the music industry. Why would anyone in their right mind want to come to Los Angeles today, to shoot their music video while having to pay high state AND street taxes. Would you want to come here to get bullied? Exactly. As the saying goes, a few bad apples ruin the whole bunch.
There are many other reasons as to why our city is broke, but I'm focusing from inside the music business. Many people ask questions regarding LA's music scene and I'm telling everyone, all at once, you now know some of the crucial reasons. No one really wants to deal with talent here because of the possible baggage attached ...which slims the chances of other hopefuls. So then, you see a flock of talent move to various cities like New York, Atlanta, Miami, etc to take a shot at the moon.
It's going to be very difficult no matter where you go, but it's extremely difficult to make it in Los Angeles without the TRUE SINCERE support of our city. I've never lived in a city where they've had such a lack of support for their own musical talent. I'm not talking the trendy fads; I'm saying the future vets. You (most folks) got love for the LAKERS but can't even support your own talent? Why? Is it colors/gangs? Jealousy? Someone has musical talent that you wished you had? Whatever the reason, it makes you a hater when you wish bad upon anyone. Selfish. EVERYONE has TALENT. You were given a gift. It's YOUR job to figure it out. So, don't be mad when someone else has figured theirs out.
Can we get anyone new to hail from the west coast? Can we finally get some love? We can't until YOU, LOS ANGELES, give love. You may not prefer or like someone, but admit, you do know when someone has talent. There are SO MANY talented people in the hip hop scene of Los Angeles that I've been disappointed for many years that no one has really gone all the way ...again, since Pac. There have been some "almosts." The only reason being that someone or more didn't want anyone else to shine.
Can we be a city with more love than hate? (You're always gonna have hate, of course.) Can we just let someone, anybody SHINE? Aren't you tired of not seeing anybody from LA on the national and international music charts CONSISTENTLY? I know that we love the West Coast classics, but can we make some FUTURE CLASSICS? It's as if that's all we've been hanging onto for over a decade now, the classics. Be honest. I'm just sayin'!
Anyways, there are times when I must put my stamp on somebody and I am very excited to say that this fella, Skeme, oh boy, is GOOD. I wasn't born and raised in Inglewood but I reside here and my homie down the street had me listening to Skeme a few weeks back. After that, I was absolutely convinced that this dude is a package, almost a full package.
I replied, "I hope he has true friends and peers who will push him where many of us dream of going. This guy has 'it.'" I can't wait to hear more. He is NEXT. IF people in Los Angeles want any talented rappers to rise up, then SUPPORT.

Happy Independence Day people! I'm so grateful to live in the USA where someone won't cut my tongue off for having an opinion. Have a nice day. God bless you!

One of my besties has been trying to convince me to check out author/inspirational speaker, Caroline Myss... for over one year now. She wrote a book called, "Anatomy of the Spirit." I'm not into all the chakra and energetic healing concepts as much as my friend is, but I have been studying it more lately, especially with all the anxiety I bring upon myself.
I do believe in God and I do believe in miracles. I do believe that He gave us certain powers and sometimes, we just have to dig deeper to find them OR they miraculously appear when we need them. Anyways, I youtubed this Caroline Myss woman. I now say to you that I'll be watching her motivational videos, along with purchasing her book in the coming days. I will always have my handy #1 piece of literature which I call the Truth, The Bible. It's rather a common sense book, but no one is equipped with 100% common sense, so we cannot possibly be perfect and follow every Word. I'm just adding to my collection of insight.
Aside from my Spiritual standpoint and religious choice, I believe in good. I believe that there is still more good than bad. It's said that it takes a MINIMUM of 10 positives to even out the ONE negative you heard or experienced. WOW. Sounds like a lot of work or is it really? If we keep our eyes open, we won't miss the many blessings that surround us.
We may not want to be in a certain situation or have made some of the mistakes we've made, yet, we try our best or better next time around. You have no choice but to get back up again. Are you going to get back up fearlessly or get back up without even trying to avoid another fall? Ya gotta try, at least. Do that much for yourself. You may be scared, but go FORWARD anyway! Just know that you are not alone. Be FEARLESS!
Tongue twisters are always fun and stupid, but they help your speech! I always thought tongue twisters were funny, but after hearing some worldwide versions, WOW is all I gotta say.
I've posted a video where a variety of ethnicities and nationalities gave their respective versions. If you're reading and comprehending this, you know how to speak english, but that doesn't mean you don't get tongue tied. I took a voice and speech workshop a few years ago to improve my delivery on-air and the coach advised that I read tongue twisters every day.
If you want to do some of them, here's a site: http://www.uebersetzung.at/twister/en.htm Here's an example; watch the last word! ;)
I saw Susie sitting in a shoe shine shop.
Where she sits she shines, and where she shines she sits.
